No New Year Resolutions and no regrets

Happy New Year and if you made a New Year’s resolution have you broken it yet? I know so many people who have, six of the girls in our office have been on a die hard diet only to be broken by a free bacon and egg sandwich that were left over from a meeting. I used to set them and found myself becoming stressed under the pressure of achieving them in the first week. Now I live my life a little more carefree, if I want to lose weight I will set myself a realistic target to make things a little less harder on myself and if I go out a have a slap up meal I will not go an order a salad I will enjoy life.

For those who have kept on target of their resolutions well done, but are you happy?

I did compile a list of things that I would have liked to have done in 2012 myself but you know what I have ticked the boxes and completed them without doing a thing – My garden was a complete mess, over grown and in need of TLC, this was sorted at no cost because of University students on a landscape gardening course who did it for free, as long as I allowed them to take pictures before and after and gave them a great reference as it credits their coursework.

I got rid of loads of things in the garage thanks to a lady who just turns up and removes the pile of unwanted items no matter what it is, so she can then ebay them and the money goes to charity and as for spending weekend after weekend decorating the house, making it look nice after years of abuse from the kids? I worked out that I might as well pay someone to do it and have the weekends free with my family, the decorater was cheap as they need the work and who can put a price on spending time with your family, it’s priceless.

One thing I know for sure is that people are very uncertain of what 2012 has in store as people are fearful of their jobs and the financial climate but what will be will be, we cannot predict the future, we can only deal with what life throws at us so why spend day after day worrying when you can simply enjoy every day as it comes. A New Year means a new birthday, another year older an extra grey hair or wrinkle but there is no point in worrying, love every day and as a beauty therapist from Hartlepool told me, no matter how many times you look in the mirror, it is only going to get worse.

So if the New Year is the year you hit fifty… Embrace it, getting older can be a good thing, look how George Clooney has matured with age and to be honest I wouldn’t thank anybody to be eighteen again at the moment.

Whatever you have in store this year, I hope it goes well and you enjoy every minute and that you and your family are well, Happy New Year x Wayne
