Being Gay might be Gok’s secret to success

Having just had a new baby, Jack who is four weeks old now I do not go out as much. I have found myself just sat down and feeding the little milk muncher and I started to watch “just because it was on”! How to look good naked with Gok Wan. I have never watched it before and now I must admit I am quite a fan so when the opportunity came up to interview him I just had to say yes and I remained fully clothed.

First question had to be why is it women are quite happy to rip their clothes off at the sight of him. Gok explained “When I first started doing the show, the whole process of getting them to that stage would take about five weeks, but now, literally within moments of meeting women their bras are off. It’s almost like their right of passage. It’s like they see me and say ‘there’s Gok, the naked man and they undress. I think it’s a straight man’s dream job

Interested in this statement I had to find out more, could a straight man not do the same TV show?

“I think you would get put in prison or arrested if you walked round trying to get girls naked” Gok explained! I soon understood that because Gok was not interested in them like most straight men would be the women open up more easily and the fact that no possible relationship is on the cards is a big help, it’s simply non-confrontational”.

As a radio presenter you normally get asked to ask celebrities questions by the listners but never before has a guest created so many in house requests from the girls in the office. There’s just something About him, women really do love him. He certainly has great style.

For any readers who are self-conscious, here’s Gok’s advice on what you should do. “I think it’s about having an honest relationship with your mirror, and accepting change. So when you look in the mirror, you might not have the same body as you did when you were seventeen, so over those years you need to think what have I achieved? Do I have children, do I have a career? Allow yourself to have confidence in your successes, oppose to just about your physicality”.

“If you want real change you need to go shopping. It’s about knowing the styles and making sure that those are working for you. There is a skirt or a dress out there for every single women. If you want to lose weight then great if not as long as you’re happy that’s fine. I personally went on a diet and lost weight and I’m more comfortable with the body I’ve got now, mine came with a lot of trauma and a lot of heart break about understanding my identity. It’s not for everyone.  Women must never feel like it’s your only opportunity for happiness and that’s the most important thing”.

It’s not just women who have issues about their body, I must admit that I could do with losing a few pounds and I know for a fact that lots of men breath in when their tops are off on holiday? Gok sympathetically answered “

I think men are under the same pressure as women, but men don’t have the same sense of community to be able to talk about it, men are still subjected to the same amount of images from the press, and try or dream to live up to have bodies like certain celebrities”!

So with that advice what did Gok suggest we need to do with the old clothes we have in the wardrobe that we will not throw away because one day we believe we will fit into them again?

“My rule is if you haven’t wore an item of clothing for six months, there’s a good chance you’re not going to be wearing it again unless you have spent a lot of money on it or you love it. Go through and be a little bit ruthless. Don’t keep clothes that you say you’re going to slim down to fit into because you will just be reminded that you’re not the person that you feel you should be. Have a very structured wardrobe so that you have a very definite look and it will just make dressing a lot easier more than anything else”.

Next week in my column read about what happened when I met the biggest boy band around JLS
