The charts are full of boy bands from the Wanted, new heart throbs One Direction and the Mighty JLS. They are in a massively competitive market but if ever there was a success story to come out of the X Factor it would be JLS. I got the chance to catch up with Ortise which is pronounced (Oree – shay) and the one all the girls fancy Aston.
The boys are extremely successfully but the fame has not gone to their head. I witnessed lovely lads who are extremely focused, driven and never shun their fans. Sometimes when you interview a famous band you are just left disappointed , I left simply loving them.
Why is my wife following you on twitter just to see your half naked body just to see how your training is coming on??
Ortise: That was before I had started training, it’s going really well now, ripped! I had a look in the mirror this morning and the six pack seems to be appearing .I’ve got big muscles, I just need to lose the big fat.
I saw you on tour when you were with Olly Murs as I was presenting the show. I have never had the pleasure of sitting through the entire JLS gig but the bit I still remember was your rendition of Jessie J’s price tag. Boy you guys were amazing!
Aston: Thank you very much. Really enjoyed singing it to be honest I was a big fan of hers. It was amazing just to cover one of her songs.
What are your classic on tour pranks that you like to have a go at??
Oritse: There’s things like, Aston will wee on the toilet seat, before Marvin goes to the toilet and I once put a squashed peach in one of the boys trainers. I also hide their socks so they don’t have any to perform in on stage, when you are at one of our concerts, the likely hood is that one of us will not be wearing a pair of socks as someone will have hid them..
There’s not much left for you to do now is there, what is there left for you guys to do?
Ortise: There’s always things to do. I always believe that you can never stop, you’ve got to set sights for yourself and try and achieve them. At the moment I’m managing a band new girl band. As a group, there’s so much more we can do. We have the arena tour in 2012.
Now we know that Marvin is dating one of the Saturdays. He must do what all men do in a serious relationship and that is moan about the other half?
Aston: Well to be honest, they don’t really spend that much time together. He is always doing JLS stuff and she is always doing the Saturdays stuff. So when they do spend time together, there isn’t really any time to argue about stuff. But what I will say what is funny is that Rochelle will tell him off sometimes for being too excited, she is definitely in charge in that relationship..
It must be great being single in JLS. Choosing a girlfriend must be easy
Oritse: It’s hard to get the girl that you really want sometimes. I attempted to woo Nicki Minaj over the last couple of months, which I haven’t been successful yet
Jokes aside, you clearly have a business head on you, who gave you that?? Is there anybody that’s given you that one thing in your mind that you will never forget?
Aston: I’m a big fan of will smith and he has this whole thing about visualisation and if you can think it, and dream it, then you can actually achieve it, and that’s something that I carry with me every single day. Also my mother, she has always said you can do whatever you want to do
Aston, a Final word from you to all your fans who read the Hartlepool Mail?!
I love you all unconditionally, I hope to see you at a tour, be there or be square, but I love you all to bits! Your amazing!
